DPF Removal

DPF (Diesel Particulate Filter) failure is very common on later model diesel cars.
DPF removal is far more cost effective than DPF replacement.

What is a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF)?

Much like the Catalytic Converter, a Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is a device which is incorporated into a vehicle’s exhaust system
to lower a vehicle’s exhaust emissions, making it more environmentally friendly. Soot is trapped and removed from exhaust gasses, through reburning at higher than normal temperatures, to leave behind a very fine ash residue. The vehicles ECU periodically adjusts the DPF temperature in order to burn off the trapped soot (regeneration).

DPF Failure

However, unlike the Catalytic Converter, DPF is relatively new technology and is prone to failure (much earlier than manufacturers would like to admit). Eventually soot and ash residue, which is not burned away, builds up inside the DPF and blockages begin to occur. An illuminated DPF light flashing intermittently on the dash, indicates a partial blockage. Unfortunately intermittent flashing is often missed or ignored. If the DPF can not regenerate, full blockage can instigate a system failure.
A failed DPF will result in power loss as the Engine Management ECU protects the engine from impending damage by putting the car into Limp Mode.

NOTE:
·        DPF CANNOT BE REPAIRED
·        SIMPLE REMOVAL WILL NOT RECTIFY LIMP MODE
·        A NEW DPF WILL COST IN EXCESS OF £1200 + FITTING AND ECU REPROGRAMMING
·        NO GARUANTEE IT WON’T HAPPEN AGAIN

DPF Removal Service

One reliable solution to this common failure is Digital Auto Solutions DPF removal service.

  • We replace (only available on some vehicles) or modify the DPF unit.
  • Disable the regeneration function of the ECU.
  • reprogramme the ECU to work without a DPF system.
  • The vehicle will now run as normal (infact some customers have noted increased power and MPG).
DPF removal service costs from as little as £450 depending on exhaust type and ECU programming procedure.

The DPF is not a legal requirement nor is it needed to pass the vehicle’s MOT emissions test.

DPF removal can save you money and prevent reoccurring problems in the future.
