About Mileage Correction

Why does mileage need correcting?

Most modern vehicles have electronic dashboards with a digital mileage display. Manufacturers have found them to be cheaper and more reliable than the old mechanical units. However, as with many complex electrical systems, things can still go wrong. Electrical surges can corrupt the onboard data chip resulting in an incorrect odometer mileage display. This may be caused by a dashboard electrical fault or a power spike due to jump starting a discharged battery. A new or second hand instrument cluster will also display incorrect data, as will an imported vehicle displaying kilometers instead of miles.

How this affects you

If left unadjusted, incorrect mileage will be recorded on the vehicle's m.o.t. and service record, and a car with inaccurate mileage will almost certainly obtain a lower resale price. Incorrect mileage may also invalidate a car's warranty.

What can we do for you?

Our trained technicians use the most advanced dedicated mileage correction equipment with the latest software. Many vehicles can be programmed through the car's diagnostic port, others require the dashboard to be removed and programmed directly, and some have mileage details stored in other separate units. All locations along with any historic fault codes pertaining to the correction are erased.

What area do we cover?

Our mobile service covers London and the South East and from Dorset up to Bristol. However, due to the complexity and anti static requirements of some programming (inc. 912/9s12, BMW CAS units, Mercedes key modules, new Freelander and Mini) some of our work is best carried out at our workshop in Basingstoke, Hampshire.

How much does it cost?

Prices start from around £60 and vary according to the complexity of the work involved. discounts are available for workshop, trade and multiple vehicle bookings.

Is it illegal?

No! It is perfectly lawful to correct the mileage of a vehicle for any of the above reasons. However, it is a serious offence to knowingly sell a vehicle without informing a prospective buyer that you have had the mileage corrected or that you believe the mileage to be incorrect.

Digital Auto Solutions carries out procedures in good faith and takes no responsibility for any illegal use of their services.
